In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the rich traditions of African textiles while creating a unique painting from start to finish. Together, we’ll learn about the cultural significance of textiles from three different African countries and the ways these fabrics connect to community, history, and storytelling. Using vibrant African wax textiles, participants will stretch their fabric onto a frame. From there, they’ll dive into oil pastels and other materials to design their own landscape painting directly on fabric. This workshop offers the opportunity not only to build technical skills in stretching and painting but also to engage with art as a practice of heritage, creativity, and community connection.
