Here Mosley has positioned himself above the crowd to capture the excitement of August 6, 1942, when the stadium was sold out and a crowd gathered outside the arena to catch a glimpse of Satchel Paige, who played fourteen seasons for the Kansas City Monarchs between 1935 and 1955. A year after Jackie Robinson integrated Major League Baseball in 1947, Paige signed with the Cleveland Indians on his forty-second birthday, becoming the oldest rookie in baseball. He went 6-1 in his first season and helped the Indians win their first World Series in twenty-eight years. He is one of the most dominant pitchers of all time.
