Known for his woodcut prints, Miller began creating sculptures out of scraps of wood from around his farm.
Born in Pittsburgh, Miller was recruited to study at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts by noted artist and educator Hobson Pittman. He received his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania.
