Nationally famous Philadelphia architect Wilson Eyre, Jr. was born in Florence, Italy and studied briefly at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A Renaissance man, he designed innovative Shingle-style residences and country houses, was a founder and editor of House & Garden magazine, taught architecture at University of Pennsylvania, and was admired for his architectural renderings and watercolors.
Louisa Eyre studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and at the Art Students’ League of New York, and became known for her sculptures of children.
