Upon graduating in 1945 from Barnard College with a major in religion and a minor in art history, Marjorie Wysong worked for eight months as Oakley’s studio assistant. She was also the model for the head study for "The Annunciation, Angel Gabriel" mural, from the series "Great Women of the Bible," First Presbyterian Church in Germantown, PA. She then entered the Episcopalian order of the Sisters of St. Margaret in Boston. As Sister Marjorie Raphael, she spent twenty-five years in Haiti doing mission work.
