Born in Missouri, Maud Durbin Skinner (1895-1936) was an American stage actress and writer. While on tour she met fellow actor and writer Otis Skinner (1858-1942), who later formed his owned dramatic company, which included Durbin. They married in 1895. They had one daughter, Cornelia Otis Skinner (1899-1979), who like her parents pursued careers in acting and writing, becoming a successful playwright, screenwriter and actress. She attended the Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr College and the Sorbonne in Paris, where she studied theatre.
