Although Oakley inscribed his name on the front of the medal, Albert Atlee Jackson (1867–1939) never received the Philadelphia Award. Educated at Episcopal Academy and the University of Pennsylvania, Jackson joined the Girard Trust Company as a clerk in 1889. In 1928, he was appointed its president and served in that capacity until 1938, when he was named chairman of the Trust's board of directors.
Inscribed in place of Jackson's name on the actual medal is Edward W. Bok, founder of the award.
