Are you Fiber-Curious? Have you wondered how felt is made or wanted to try to make felt yourself? In this workshop we will discuss the basics of felt-making from a brief overview of the history of felting, to the tools needed, to a discussion of various fibers and embellishments that can make your felting interesting and textural. Through this class you will gain an understanding of the techniques that can be used to turn your roving into a beautiful piece of fabric, jewelry or wall-hanging. Please note that the process of felting is physical and requires the use of hands, arms and fingers. Create a colorful felt vessel using a resist to layout a ‘flat’ design which opens to a 3-D bowl or vase shape. This class will give you the fundamentals to make all kinds of structural and sculptural pieces using the resist.
$79 plus $5 materials fee made payable to the instructor; or $30 if you want the teacher to supply all materials
