Explore Woodmere as a family and discover the adventure and fun of the Museum’s interactive family programs. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Admission to the Museum is free to parents and guardians whose children participate in family happenings.

Woodmere’s Straw Maze 2024
Saturdays and Sundays, September 7-December 1 | 10 am-5 pm
Ages 4-11, with an adult
FREE for Woodmere Family Members
$5/child for non-members; $20 for a group of 5
FREE for adults and children ages 3 and under
A parent or guardian must accompany children. Entrance to the Museum is free to parents and guardians whose children have tickets to the Straw Maze.

Explore the zigzag spaces, tunnels, and multi-level views created in Woodmere's 2024 straw maze. Built with massive bales of straw and designed by architects Peter Everett Brown and Barbara Ann Sprague of BrownSprague LLC, this year’s maze provides fun and recreation for all ages.
 
The Straw Maze has been made possible by a generous donation from AddVal, Inc.
 
 
Sunday Family Art & Storytelling
Sundays, November 3, and December 8 | 11:00 am-noon
Ages 3-5, with an adult 
Instructor: Ginger Mimmo Rohlfing

Introduce your preschoolers to art experiences. Children will focus on one artwork, read a related story picture book and create an art project with their adult companion. A fun and engaging way for children to enjoy art. 
 
Lenape Stories and Games 
Saturday, November 9 | 3-5 pm
All ages, with an adult
with Bluejay, Storyteller and Chief of Culture, Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania

Enjoy an afternoon listening to Lenape Stories and playing traditional Lenape games such as Jackstraws (Pick Up Sticks), Dice Game (Mamantickan) and more. Children will learn to make their own hoop stick to play the game of Hoop and Stick. Bluejay will lead everyone in Friendship and Snake Dances.
 
Bluejay, aka Barbara Michalski, was given the name by her grandfather, Bill Thompson, late Chief Whippoorwill of the Unalachtigo (people near the ocean) Tribe of the Turkey Clan. As a member of Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania (LNPA), Bluejay serves on the Tribal Council. is the Tribal Secretary, and one of the Storytellers of the Nation.  Recently has been appointed Chief of Culture.  She has been participating in educating the public by attending events or festivals in the Lenapehoking (Homeland of the Lenape). But most of all, Bluejay loves to teach children the history of the Lenape Nation through crafts, storytelling, and artifacts while visiting numerous area schools and children’s groups. She also provides programs for the Elderly in senior housing. Bluejay has also been involved in environmental issues, particularly working for clean water and protecting our Earth Mother.  
 
Chestnut Hill Circle of Trees
Saturday, November 23 | 5:30 pm

The Circle of Trees Celebration brings the community together at the start of the holiday season. Enjoy hot chocolate, cider and cookies, music, goodie bags for the kids, and a visit from (shhhhh!) Santa too, who arrives on an antique fire truck. Together we count down to the lighting of the Art Museum and Christmas trees. 
 
 
Victorian Card Making
Saturday, December 14 | noon-2 pm 
All ages
$5/child with an Adult (FREE for Woodmere Family Members)
 
Create holiday cards in the Victorian card-making tradition. Special papers, stickers, holiday images, ribbons, and "bling," will be supplied plus cards and envelopes, scissors, and glue sticks.
 
 
Kids Care 31 Reception 
Saturday, December 14 | 1-3 pm 
All ages
FREE
 
Familes and friends of schools involved in Kids Care 31 are invited to celebrate the children's exhibition. Artworks are on display in the Helen Millard Children's gallery and will be wrapped and delivered along with holiday meals by MANNA (Metropolitian Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) to individuals homebound with chronic illness.
