People were swinging hard in the heyday of this dynamic era in jazz. Count Basie’s “One O’Clock Jump” and Benny Goodman’s band had everybody moving. Pianist and vocalist Mary Lou Williams, trombonist Melba Liston, and pianist Marian McPartland brought their special style to the rhythms and tunes of swing. This memorable evening puts the sounds of these performers on the swinging block.
