Lecturer: Henry Glassie, PhD, College Professor Emeritus of Folklore and Ethnomusicology, Indiana University


Henry Glassie, author of Prince Twins Seven-Seven: His Art, His Life in Nigeria, His Exile in America, will give an illustrated talk on the life and art of his dear friend, painter and musician Prince Twins Seven-Seven. A Nigerian modernist with an international reputation, Twins Seven-Seven lived in Philadelphia for extended periods of time. Glassie has done fieldwork on five continents and has devoted his career to studying the artistic impulse in varying cultures, writing twenty books on the traditional arts of Ireland, Turkey, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Brazil, and the United States.
