History for the whole family! Join us for an afternoon of music, dance, and poetry to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday. Feel free to stop by whenever you want. The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble will celebrate with a range of songs from Down By The Riverside to I Wish I Knew What it Meant to Be Free. Featuring performances by members of the Universal Drum and Dance Ensemble, poets, and more.  

This event is free and open to the public.

 

Schedule of events:

2:00 - 2:50 pm: The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble tells the story of Juneteenth with songs that range from Down By The Riverside to I Wish I Knew What it Meant to Be Free, plus excerpts from the jazz opera, Never Back Down

3:00 - 3:30 pm: Performance by The Universal Drum and Dance Ensemble

3:35 - 3:50 pm: Poetry reading by Yahne Ndgo 

3:55 - 4:15 pm: Second performance by Universal Drum and Dance Ensemble

4:15 - 4:30 pm: Poetry reading by Shirmina Geneva

4:30 – 5:00 pm: Final performance by The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble
