Alan Parker’s chronicle of a working-class Dublin musicians is based on the novel by Roddy Doyle. Jimmy Rabbitte (Robert Arkins) assembles a soul band with Deco (Andrew Strong), a streetcar conductor who can sing like Otis Redding, and horn player Joey “The Lips” Fagan (Johnny Murphy), who claims to have played with Wilson Pickett and Elvis Presley.
