Ekphrasis, the ancient term meaning description, has come to refer to poems that focus on works of art. In this workshop, led by poet Julia Spicher Kasdorf, participants will see how contemporary poets have tried to interpret, inhabit, and speak through careful observation of paintings. No experience with poetry writing is necessary to learn about and compose an ekphrastic poem. Enrollment is limited, so please register in advance by emailing amonroe@woodmereartmuseum.org. Class takes place in Woodmere Art Museum’s galleries.
