A Year In The Life, 2020-2021: Norwood-Fontbonne Academy
About the Exhibition
“This year is definitely different but different doesn’t always mean bad.”
- Samantha Hendrza
The 2020-2021 school year was a year like no other. Norwood-Fontbonne Academy (NFA) teachers and students faced the challenges of the pandemic with strength and determination that fostered a successful in-person school year. The artworks in this exhibition, created individually and collectively by NFA students, reflect their feelings, thoughts, and accomplishments during the year.
Students and teachers were both excited and nervous at the beginning of September, 2020. This was especially true for eighth graders who were in their final year at NFA. Much of their art was created as a way to remember their last year together. One eighth grader remarked, “When I got the news that I was returning back to school in person for my eighth grade year, I was ecstatic. After all that the world has been through this year, being able to see all of my teachers and friends meant so much to me and the first day just could not come fast enough.”
Norwood-Fontbonne Academy is a Catholic Independent academy for students from preschool to eighth grade. Its creative, interactive education curriculum is enriched by service learning, outreach, and co-curricula experiences in art, music, and theater, academics, athletics, service, and students’ special interests.
