About the Exhibition

The Light Within: Art That Shines features art made by students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade at William Penn Charter School. This exhibition celebrates the unique creativity each student brings to Penn Charter Lower School’s community through art.

Honoring each student’s individual voice is central to Penn Charter School’s Quaker philosophy. Guided by art teachers, Brooke Giles, Michelle Dowd, and Karen Riedlmeier, students explore a wide range of artistic experiences that inspire imagination and self-expression. From vividly colored paintings, drawings, prints, and photographs, to textured weavings, sewing projects, and sculptures, the art on exhibit reflects the energy, curiosity, and vibrancy of Penn Charter’s visual arts program.
