Charles Kaprelian, American Holocaust, The Story 1

Date
2006–8
Medium
Graphite on paper
Credit Line
In memory of Inge Kaprelian, 2012
Dimensions
30 x 22 1/2 in.

Although he is primarily known as an abstract painter and architect, Kaprelian turned to representation to tell the story of his wife’s battle with cancer. The artist represents the figure of his wife as less than a tangible being in this drawing, but renders the male in a more solid manner; he is of the earth, as she becomes more of the spirit.
