Oliver Nuse

Oliver Nuse was born on January 20, 1914 in Oberlin, Ohio, but moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania not long after his birth. The son of established impressionist Roy C. Nuse, Oliver studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) and the University of Pennsylvania. While at PAFA, Nuse was awarded the Cresson European Scholarship in 1938, a Fellowship Prize, and later a Harrison Morris Prize from Woodmere in 1956. He exhibited in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Academy and William Penn Charter School (where he was also director of the Art Teachers Association), and in Youngstown, Ohio, at the Butler Institute of American Art.
