Pearl Van Sciver

Life Dates
1896-1966

Born in Philadelphia, Pearl Van Sciver received her art education from the Stevens School and at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (now Moore College of Art and Design). Active in many organizations, she was vice president of the Violet Oakley Memorial Foundation and at the request of  the first director of Woodmere, Edith Emerson, Van Sciver became vice president of the Museum’s Board of Trustees. Van Sciver exhibited her work at the National Academy of Design; the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC; and at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
