Named for Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, Magda Vitale's semiabstract painting alludes to the landscape and its bounty. Full of rich color and pattern, there is a delicate balance of interior and exterior space, a tension between organic and rectilinear shapes, and a sensuality to the color and paint application in this stylized and spatially playful artwork.

Vitale earned her BFA from Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia and received a fellowship from the Ballinglen Arts Foundation to study at Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland.
