Medium
Oil on canvas

Museum purchase, 2019
Dimensions
20 x 30 in.

Mangione described her paintings as vignettes that border on the surreal. In Garden Gate, a red tree towers like an otherworldly entity over a gate and a fence made of arrows. The overlapping rectangles and squares suggest a crowded city bordered by an enchanted forest.
