Kaz was a short-lived crime drama created and co-written by actor Ron Leibman (born 1937). Leibman also starred as the main character, Martin “Kaz” Kazinsky, a Polish American who became a criminal defense lawyer after serving time in jail for a previous crime. Kaz was passionate about defending underdogs, often identifying with the characters he defended, and went above and beyond to keep his clients from being jailed. In 1979, Leibman won a Primetime Emmy for his portrayal of the abrasive and often temperamental Kaz. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after twenty-two episodes due to low ratings.
