Antonio Pietro Martino, Mist
This wintery work captures the Pennsylvania countryside, a subject most common in Martino’s work. Over half of this work is composed of painterly masses of wintry white. A dramatic diagonal of vivid green and orange between the road and icy river leads the viewer to the small bridge and house whose architectural lines contrast with the curvilinear, organic forms of nature. Feathery trees and muted blues fill the background.
