The painting reads as a patchwork of elements, each vying for attention. The wide pathway from the bottom of the work serves to guide you into a deep-set painting, space accented by the dramatic lighting striped across the midsection of the barn and upper fields. Farmers herd a group of cattle accented with surprising flecks of purple and blue. Beside the barn, two silos are largely obscured in darkness, save for accents of reds and blues. The patchwork fields seem to swell up above the farmstead, distorting perspective.
