Gift of Bill Scott, 2011Neff worked from photographs, often making detailed pencil studies based on the images she captured with her camera. As evident here, she felt no need to sketch in the figures’ facial features. Her next step would be to draw her composition in charcoal. Then she would paint the landscape or setting before starting on the figures. The finished painting is also in Woodmere's collection.
