Painter Mitzi Melnicoff and sculptor Natalie Charkow Hollander were friends and colleagues of Day at the University of the Arts. Charkow Hollander recalls sitting for this portrait, recalling that the three artists “had a lot of laughs together.”

  • I was a student of Mitzi's at PCA in 1966 and knew Natalie from her work as a sculptor and teacher at PCA I saw this painting in a show of Larry's at 1708 Gallery in 1967 and the image has captured these 2 artists so well
