John W. Casilear, Autumn Landscape

Casilear's images are often tranquil and harmonious. Here he paints an expansive landscape with a clearly-perceivable depth. Foreground elements are represented in great detail, while broad areas of sky and earth in the background are unified by glowing light and atmosphere. Tonal harmonies and deliberately muted hues create a scene of serenity.
